Natural order: There is a certain way the world is supposed to work before there was any technology. This technology resulted in making the universe an unnaturally unordered place to live in. There is an unbalanced equality of living rights and humans have completely taken over the world, making it harder for anything else to peacefully go about their lives without fear. We have made ourselves entitled without caring about the consequence of anything else that is supposed to be co-exist. We have become blind to norms and values, gradually but surely decreasing respect for life. Animals are being controlled to live and die as we please while still depending on us for their survival. People become blind to empathy and while being driven by greed.

Basic needs: Water, food, shelter. The only things we will ever need to truly survive and yet unobtainable if you have no money. We cannot even rely on our natural instincts anymore to obtain it from what should be from natural resources. What should be obtainable for everyone is gradually being taken away. The right to take water to make it drinkable. The right to build shelters in forests that are now considered private property. The right to rely on your natural instincts to be able to survive.

The constant evolution of technology

Not only does the world keep on evolving with technology it brings so many things in the world in which i ask myself if it is nessecary to evolve it this much?

We as human come from a simple concept where we survive on us being in nature being together and the constant helping and partnership of us being. There my question lies in wheter we have grown so much or wheter we downgraded so much that we need technically to survive. We can already see it in the generation underneath u show technallicy changes us but is it for the better? Don’t get me wrong i think in the society that we live in we cannot live without technolygy anymore that is a change we made as human and wheter it’s for the best is for everybody to decide but the question is if we need technology fort he simpelest of things we do daily which can be simply be done by hand. Is it then by defenition easier or are we as humans just getting lazy? Are we okey with accepting the idea that every simgle thing we can do to make us feel human wil be replaced with technology.

natural

The question is when is something natural is it natural when it is made by hand? Is osmething natural if it grew by it’s own? Is it natural if there where no technologicial manipulations? It all comes back at where you draw the line of what you think natural is. For me natural stands for pure. Something where no extra effort is needed for. It’s something that when you see it you know that it is natural no questions even asked. For me the defenition of natural is pure.

Native TikTok:

Indigenous creators are constantly balancing their concerns for privacy with their need to see and be seen, and to bring Indigenous art into existence. At the core of artful existence is a deep well of joy. TikTok is a digital space that combines the visual language of Instagram, the pockets of community of early Facebook and the same immediacy that made Vines exhilarating. It should be no surprise, then, that there’s an idyllic part of TikTok, where the joy of seeing this representation creates a whole new genre of TikToks: gratitude in seeing ourselves. Indigenous creators are absolutely delighting in each other. We might be starved for representation that doesn’t commodify, appropriate or flatten us, but here, in these spaces, we’re living for each other.

The digital spaces will keep on living forever, what is out there on the internet will stay out there and so this is a way of preserving a culture.

Divorced Parents:

Being forced out of your child home is a discplacement. From personal experience I can talk about this. The reason for writing this is because Brigitte ticked all the boxes when it comes to displacement. The financial and economics systems controlled me on where I had to stay. I had two options:

- Move in with my grandma together with my mother

- Go live on my own

Either option had pros and cons. Moving in with my grandma would not force me to get a loan in order to my own room but it would be a total shift of what I was used to. Going to live on my own would force me to get a loan and create a debt I don’t want nor need.

Being dependent on other people/systems is something that is not inevitable and that forces you to make decisions for the long term.

Destructive Place,

Description: The Destructive Place is a futuristic enviroment where the past and the future will be merged together into one. How old skills become useless or usefull. The space in my story will be virtual space where the past and future will merge.

While entering the place I felt a disturbance, It feels like I am surrounded by thousands of people and are looking at me and my next move.

Looking at this space I discover old artifacts and tools that were used hundreds of years ago but have no value to this day since the use of them are no longer valid. The artifacts are there as a props, I believe I entered a virtual space, maybe even an museum about the history of tribes and there tools and skillsets. But what is my purpose here? While looking around more I come to the realization that this might place is destructive, it shows that modern society is not able to take care of themselves and that they rely on the system build for them to keep them in place.

If I am being honest and look critically at myself, I can't do any of the things tribes did in the past. I can't catch my own food, I can't start a fire and I can't build my own camp to spend the night.

Maybe it is time to educate myself on becoming more independent and rely less on the system build for the modern day society

back to where you belong

here you lie in the middle of nowhere between these leafy high towers on a cold fall afternoon

how did you end up here I will never know

I could smell the moist dirt that surrounds you

my heart fell deep into my stomach wondering

If you could smell this air, would it be a familiar scent to you?

oh, how much I wish you knew that a part of you ended up here

in the place where you were always meant to be.

It was a normal sunday morning just like any other you could say. But i have never felt this disconnected with my present day. Everywhere i look i see people using gadgets, using machines ,using all these crazy things. It looks like they are brainwashed. Brainwashed to think that they need al these extra things to survive.

How did we drift away so far from the essence of being human? I decided to take a morning walk to maybe clear my head. I walked to the nearby park. Almost smiling because it looked so beatifull i realized how this is what made me the happiest what makes me be able to clear my head. And it is not even big enough to walk through for longer then 30 minutes. It was a man made park which was only there because of city rules that we need a recreation park made out of green for basic human needs.

Walking back home thinking about the live we build for ourselves thinking we were only doing us a pleasure i realized i was born in the wrong place or even the wrong century because this way of life is not how i imagined it to be.

The New Narratives of Survival

Humans have become greedy creatures. We are living in times of the Anthropocene. We have become God’s of this earth deciding who, when or how someone or something should live or die. We are not in any means co-existing anymore. We only take and take more. We have completely taken over the world. Everything is being done for us, but at what consequence for the rest of the world around us? We take everything so blindly as long as we benefit from it, without knowing the suffering that others had to endure for us to get it.

It came out of nowhere. Nobody knew what it was or what caused it. The fear became contagious. Some of us were paralyzed with their eyes halfway popped out of their heads. Grey, dull, and dead as they were, still breathing, but barely moving. They could not believe it. Nobody could. The world was at its peak of greatness and after it happened, we were left out like beautifully decorated fresh meat. They did not see us for what we were. They did not have a taste for Italian, Greek or Chinese like we did. No. They did not care about who we were. Their instinct was to hunt and to kill anything with two legs and a heartbeat. They became uncontrollable savages. The thirst for revenge ran through their blood. Enraged with fury, driven by revenge and completely unstoppable. There was almost no point in running. If you were seen, you were already dead. I remember that night when it happened so clearly. Ironic seeing how it was the darkest night the world ever had to endure. I still do not know how the best night of my life could also be the worst. We were at the gas station after having the most amazing day together. We went to the utopian park where he had told me he loved me. I still remember his face when I peeked out the window looking at him while searching for the perfect snack for us at the gas station supermarket. He was grooving and singing to what I am sure is November Rain by Guns and Roses. He had been playing it the whole damn day. I had just filled in the gas and went in to get some Doritos and dip for the home movies that I promised him that we were going to watch. My biggest worry at the time was if I should get the salsa or the cheese dip. I was Completely unaware that my friend was already the victim of a hungry and savage beast that had come out of nowhere. I will never forget the screams of the lady standing next to me. She was the first person to see the beast outside the gas station window inside of my car. After she screamed everybody saw it. The thing was on top of my friend's and the car window was covered in red. My heart fell to my stomach and the Doritos and the dip on the floor. I knew that my friend was gone. I was so shocked that I could not take a good look at it to figure the creature out, but it looked familiar. It was huge and had an even bigger personality. It kept drooling, like a human body was not enough to satisfy his appetite. He came straight towards us and broke through the glass window like it was invisible. That was when I took a good look at what it was. Bloody it kept running and determined to attack the squealing dinner that was attracting his attention. I ran for it. It was every man for himself. I had seen this animal before. We had learned about them at school, but no one has ever seen one of these unless you were an owner or worker at one of those companies. They must have escaped.

Concept: 3000 years from now, animals' only purpose is to be farmed, no real forests, or natural rivers and water exist. The world is owned by huge companies and no natural resources can be found in nature. Companies took over all-natural resources, which is why animals are not seen any more in nature. They are only seen as meat in stores and not as living creatures. Science had made it possible for them to be mass produced. All these ingestions generated a different type of gene in the animals. It made them bigger, better and they are now able to produce faster. However, the injections made it possible for the animals to obtain memories from their previous parents. Through the years it built up aggression towards humans. One day there was a world malfunction and they all got loose. The result is an attack on humans.

This is some of the brainstorming that we did the day of the writing course.

Tik Tak Tik Tak

You hear it ticking every day. What it could be, I could never say.

Could it be only me. Can I ever be free?

I get lost searching for answers. The weight of not knowing is as heavy as anchors.

Sinking to a hole. Losing every sense of control.

I must find what it is. Even if it takes me all these years.

Tik Tak Tik Tak

No one knows. It’s a mystery I suppose.

Will I ever get answers. Will I ever know?

I am at my breaking point. I cannot disappoint

It is there it finally stopped. At the same time my heartbeat dropped

Our Words
Brief
Collectively written brief.

The topic that we are working on is the shift in survival. This shift is being depicted by a made up tribe with attributes that back up the story of the tribe. The story is about the shift, for example; during thistime period, foxes are not looking for "wild" food anymore but are looking for garbage bins to feed themselves. The shift in behaviour is noticable.

The key concerns we thought of is that people will start to rely on other (instances?) instead of the capabality to support themselves and that it will shift the whole biological system.

The methods we used to visualize and do research is done in Hotglue. There is a collective research platform that we all contributed to. Also we worked on collective drawing to give a visual to what is "taking over".

The aim for our project is to create awareness about the shift that is happening. We want to make people aware that what is happening is a danger to us all. We will showcase this throught the made up tribe and with the attributes that back up that story and that give body to the project.Sources:The Funambulist. (2021, September -October).
